Frank Light Band

"Frank Light Band's Country Music and Bio" There’s a New Spark of LIGHT in Nashville! Frank Light ~ An up and coming artist with a soulful tenor voice. Frank has a passion for performing, and is the new spark of light that country music has been searching for. His vocal presence is energetic and full of vitality. He has the ability to transform heartfelt songs from artists such as Vince Gill, Bryan White and Steve Wariner to make them feel like his own. The raw talent he possesses will take him far. “His sense of self and style as an artist is extraordinary" says The Write Stuff Music Producer Toby Steele. "It has been a treat to watch him develop....I'm impressed by what he brings to the table.” Frank’s creativity stems from his determination to build a long lasting career in the Country Music industry. The title track of Franks first CD “Heartbeat” was picked to be on WCEN’s Best of the Backyard Bootleg 1999 CD. Like the great country songwriter Harlan Howard, Frank was raised in Detroit. Being the youngest of 10 children, he had to share a room with an older brother who played guitar and was quickly drawn to music. As a teenager, Frank and some friends were driving when he quietly began singing along with the radio. One of the girls in the front seat turned down the radio to listen and invited him to join the school choir because of his great voice. Frank joined the choir, and also developed a love for harmony singing by performing in barbershop quartets. He hadn’t really discovered country until a choir member brought him a Vince Gill tape. Frank loved Vince’s smooth soulful style, but also liked the rockin’ style of Travis Tritt like in songs such as `Here’s A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares),’ and `Put Some Drive In Your Country.’ Frank would get a greater reaction to his voice when he would perform Vince Gill cover songs. Folks would say they had never heard anyone sing Vince like that. In his college years and afterwards, he worked in bands playing a mix of country and classic rock at weddings and clubs throughout Michigan. He even ran a karaoke show for a time. His performances over the last few years have helped him hone his vocal skills and techniques. In time, he decided Nashville was the only place to seriously pursue his music. Unlike many hopefuls who move here, Frank made sure he had a job – as a dental hygienist – before arriving in Music City. And as it turns out, that job led to his first big break in Nashville. While working days as a dental hygienist in Brentwood, Tennessee he happened to be cleaning the teeth of Sheryl Loftis, the Vice President of Writer Relations for Steven Sharp’s SOI Music, a full-service music company with a tremendous track record of success as an independent song plugger and publisher. They started talking and Frank told Loftis that he was a singer who had recently relocated to Nashville. Loftis asked for a demo. Frank gave her the first CD that he and his brother had previously recorded. That CD included Frank’s version of Vince Gill’s `If You Ever Have Forever In Mind.’ Once Sharp and Loftis heard the demo, they called Frank that very night to tell him SOI wanted to work with him. Loftis says, “Frank Light’s voice is refreshing. These are pure vocals it’s simply a God-given gift. This is a one-in-a-million vocalist. He shares the stage with singers like Roy Orbison, Vince Gill and Marty Robbins”. Wow. High praise indeed! Sharp, who has promoted over 60 No. 1 singles to Country radio in an amazing career, puts it this way: “Frank Light is one of Nashville’s best-kept secrets. He’s undoubtedly the most talented tenor vocalist in music today.” As a fan of country music, Frank has been eager to carry the torch for it. As an artist, however, he has also felt the urge to express his imagination and vocal skills by going beyond the limits of traditional country standards. Rick Parnell from The Thin Black Line Studio had this to say: "This guy is the real thing. He's got a strong melodic voice and a solid song sense.” Frank delivers songs with honesty, innocence and a purity of spirit that has made him very popular among his listening public. While Frank’s creative horizons are expanding, the core of his appeal remains the same - wholesome, handsome and talented. Like George Strait, Frank is primarily an artist as opposed to a singer / songwriter. Song writing doesn’t come as smoothly for him. Frank feels that with so many extraordinary writers right here in Nashville, why look anywhere else. Six of the seven songs such as “Fools Like Us,” “Center Stage,” and “My Saving Grace,” come from the rich music catalog of Sharp Objects. Frank recorded the first seven songs for his debut CD at Garth Fundis’ Sound Emporium studios in early 2005 with Row veteran Herb Tassin. Tassin has worked as either producer or engineer on projects by Faith Hill, Diamond Rio, Roxie Dean, Hilljack, and many others. According to Herb “Frank Light sings with a passion and honesty that turns a song into an undeniable statement of fact. When Frank steps up to a microphone, I listen”. Frank recorded four more tracks in late 2005 at The Groundstar Recording Lab with producer Harry Smith to finish his debut CD “Faith in Atlanta” which was released in November of 2005. There is a lot of excitement about the bright future this young man has and he is an artist that is not to be overlooked. Frank says “I grew up listening to everything, but it was Country Music that made its mark on me… I want to make my mark in Country Music”. We will all be watching for his star to shine, making his presence known. He is on his way to becoming a classic in the country music industry. With his natural gifts and with individuals like Steven Sharp, Sheryl Loftis, and Herb Tassin behind him, 2006 figures to be year when the music of Frank Light shines very brightly indeed.

I am not in favor of tenors as I is one. I find a quality in your voice kind of like Cat Stevens or maybe John Prine. I like the music Gene
