"Guido van de Wijdeven's Reggae music and bio"
Guido van de Wijdeven (23) is a musician / producer from The Netherlands. He started playing the trumpet at a very young age and studied classical music for about 12 years. In his teens, because of jazz and pop influences he started playing drums and soon started studying drums with Chris Strik at the Jazzacademy in Roosendaal. He since then played with a lot of different bands / projects (including Mdungu, Vinnie's Vice, RSJF, Rik Mol ), and studied drums and mallets at the Utrecht Conservatory with David Weiss and Ben Gerritssen.
Since 2005 he has started to grow an interest for reggae and hiphop music and that inspired him to start composing his own 'riddims' and 'beats'. He therefore started studying bass and keys and also music producing and mixing so that eventually he will be able to record all his ideas himself without needing any other people. He studied with Eric Hoeke, Peter Bergman, Alvin Lewis and Stefan Schmid for some time. In april 2008 Guido starts with a Music Production course at Berklee College of Music. He currently is studying at MusicianUniversity.comwhere he recently finished certificate courses in midi and audio recording and mixing.
He plays regulary with GvdW Group, De Willies, The Bonnie Situation, Thundarebels, Misty Basement, Cheap Harmony, Boomsteady Few, Tomas Delfgaauw Quartet and others.
He recorded with most of them. (And some others)
Guido works as a freelance musician all over the country, and with this demo he hopes to expand his network and let people know he isn't only a musician, he's also becoming a producer...
