Cameron "Damn" MacDonald

" Cameron "Damn" MacDonald's Rock Music and Bio"

Cameron's genre of music is Rock, Alternative, Country, Blues!

For starters, for a “New Artist” this guy is old, even by liberal standards. If forty-five is the “new” thirty and having grandkids is considered sexy then this guy has got it going on and I stand corrected. However, his career is just beginning when most musicians his age are cashing it in and cashing out. He’s a late blooming baby boomer that has barely got a band let alone a bio. He’s never toured. He’s never been signed to a label. He’s still not signed to a label. I bet up till now know ones even heard of him. But all bets are off because he just recorded one of the most amazing independent CD’s to surface in the last fifteen years. “This is the album of songs I dreamed I would make. I put all of my heart, my mind, and my soul, everything into every song and lyric on this album.”  When asked how he would categorize what he does he says, “I don’t even go there, ah, beautiful music for the common man.  No, that’s weak. I've been called a Soundscaping Wordsmith of Acoustic Rock. Some say it's somewhere between Adult-Contemporary- Soul and Alternative- Country - Blues I call it, Self-Made Soul". Whatever it is, what it’s not, is disposable music. They’re the kind of songs that keep you sitting in your car long after you put it in park. His lyrics captivate and penetrate you, they contemplate and dissipate you, they stimulate your fate and point you home.
The album is called Self Made Soul by Cameron "Damn" MacDonald. You can visit his web site at www.camerondamn.com Presently, Cameron is working on an Alternative Country album entitled “ALL THAT IS GOOD” while compiling the tracks for his Rock album, “WHAT WAS I THINKING?” He’s got plans to follow those up with a solo acoustic Coffeehouse album of all his wrist-slitting favorites for what he likes to calls his “Kiss of Death tour”. When asked about the possible confusion the varied styles would have on his fans he said, “There are elements of those styles running through everything I do. I’m not trying to be all things to all people I’m putting out albums that set a tone and evoke a mood or a theme like a good photo album. Baby Boomers have a wide and eclectic appreciation for different styles of music. I just want to take the listener somewhere new with each volume.”  So what’s with the name?  “Cameron “Damn” MacDonald, is what my girlfriend calls me when I’m in trouble. It just kind of stuck. ” He laughs. For now Cameron and his band are promoting his debut release “SELF MADE SOUL” on the inter-net, by playing in and around the Beach cities of Southern California and gearing up for touring the southwestern United States.

For those that have experienced Cameron’s songs and would like to become involved in spreading his music Cameron is also available for House Concerts and Private Party’s where he can get up close and personal with his fans. Cameron has written between two and three hundred songs. When he’s not writing a new song he probably can be found working on or adding to his Colossal Opus. A tribute to famed guitar solos from his idols and influences. When I asked him about it he said, “It’s a two-and-a-half-hour guitar-solo-medley of one hundred or so of my favorite solos strung together so that each solo transitions into the next. It’s a guy thing. I’ve recorded it on a two-CD set that I use to attract guitar students and repel most everybody else. ”www.colossalopus.com But as much as he may love to rip it up for hours on end, the focal point of his original material is his vocals and incredible lyrics. He says, “It’s all about the art of phrasing, tapping emotion and creating a vibe.” His Debut Contemporary album “SELF MADE SOUL” is a testament to that.
