Cheryl Hill

"Cheryl Hill's Rock music and bio"

Capitalizing on the momentum of four successful independent releases, Cheryl Hill is aiming high with her fifth, a power-packed 3-song EP titled LET LOVE IN.

She has the fortitude, the looks and the ability to reign as queen over the realm that includes her heroes: Queensryche, Ozzy and Metallica. Cheryl’s music is energetic and powerful, with surging guitar work and world-wise lyrics. Against punchy, metallic song constructions, she is able to pit crafty and insightful words; amidst metallurgic drama she sings like an avenging angel in knowing and powerful tones. JAM magazine, Orlando, FL, quotes: “Cheryl’s vocals are strong in that very impassioned Pat Benatar style.” With powerful vocals and polished live band production, this infectious EP is full of those kinds of songs you find yourself humming unconsciously after only one or two listens.”

Her new release, LET LOVE IN, is produced by John Alec (Junoon, East Village Opera Company). “I wanted to work with a producer that allowed my music to rock, unapologetically, not turn me into another mellow, singer/songwriter chick. John opened up a door inside of me that had been closed for a long time. I knew I wanted to rock and rock hard…this release is the truth of who and what I am as an artist,” Cheryl says, “it has the kind of energy and emotion I have always wanted to convey in my music.”

Cheryl grew up all over the US and attended 5th grade in London, England.  As the daughter of a roving corporate mogul, she never lived in one city long enough to put down roots. This might explain the tension and release present in her music, which has prompted various music writers to describe it as “an inspiring ride, from brakes to blastoff” and “pure melodic rhythms that take hold of your body.” As a high school junior in Kissimmee, FL, Cheryl began to identify with the “metal heads” in her class. She liked the message of the music and found its adrenalin-driven aura addictive. Her best friend handed her an electric guitar and she never put it down. Inspired by Randy Rhoads, Kirk Hammet, Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton, she set out to write her own “thinking woman’s metal”.

“There has always been an overall theme of self-reliance and individuality associated with my songs,” Cheryl says, “I like to try and make people think, open their minds and challenge their beliefs. I have adopted the motto, ‘To thine own self be true.’”

With four CDs under her belt, a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Miami and a short stint at Island Records, Cheryl is feeling the momentum build. With a burgeoning audience and a long list of festivals, concert venues, radio play lists and press quotes to her credit, Cheryl is sure to add scores of clamoring fans with her new release. She is preparing for a busy upcoming tour schedule of festivals, clubs and music conferences.

Cheryl hopes her fans will continue to have a good time at her shows and absorb inspiration from her craft, she says, “if I can get people to think, and think deeply about their lives and what they truly want out of life, I think I will have succeeded in some small way in making the world a better place for everyone.”
