Rising out of the depths of melodic soul is the song-stress Angi. She brings a smooth style of artistic expression to the scene. Her jazzy sounds flow over mellow groves, and hip hop traks into the new era of urban music.
A self taught pianist and trained flutist, Angi writes and composes most of her songs. She takes her listeners on a sensual journey of life and love relying own some of her life experiences as a guide. “My songs are really and truly based on how I feel or have felt at one time or another in life.” she says.
Currently Angi is completing a project which will feature polished, soulful and jazzy grove “ wit just a lil funk”. On the sultry single “ I Want You” she expresses her sassy desire for her lovers return home. The soulful “ Recognize Love” displays her vocally soulful insight of finding self love while the bassy grove highlights her distinct sound. Also, the remake of the jazz classic “ Summertime” done live with the “ Nekbonz” will stir you.
Angi began treading her musical path at an early age, singing in church, local talent shows, band and clubs as a teen before exploring the music industry. Born Angela McCrary in Nashville, TN, she was influenced by her family’s musical background. Among those who inspired her are her grandfather, a member of the legendary Fairfield Four, an aunt who sang back up for Bob Dylan and featured in Tyler Perry’s “ Mu Dears Family Reunion” and her uncles who comprised the 70’s group signed to Columbia Records “City Streets”.
By her teenage years Angi was working her vocal skills at local nightclubs for extra money. Since then her silky sounds have been featured in performances at nationally probed events such as Summer Lights, Urban Music Showcases and Nashville Entertainment Association Extravaganzas.
Now, Angi is working with top producer/ vocalist Kwesi B., in a soulful, jazzy funk band called “the Nekbonz” and together they have partnered up for Chocolate and Caramel productions. She is often called to perform her distinct sound on several up and coming artist such as Native ( Universal), Cliental featuring G-Units “ Young Buck”, former Def Jam South artist “ Haystack” Rightbank Music’s top producer “ Walter Turbit, and country music’s own Ty Herndon (formerly of Sony music) and a host of others.
