"Tony Kurtis's R&B music and bio"
They say the best things come in small packages. In R&B and Pop music, however, the artists who
have consistently set the pace are those who are the “complete package” (i.e. strong vocals, superior
dancing, and an appealing look). In 2007, there emerges a male artist whose goal is to earn his place
amongst those artists. His name is Tony Kurtis. Tony Kurtis (Producer, Song Writer, Arranger, and
Artist), a native of Baltimore, MD, was born Anthony Curtis Moore to Clarence Wallace Moore and
Shirley Ann Moore. Tony Kurtis comes from a multi-talented family. His father, Clarence Moore, is the
lead singer of the Gospel Revelators and his uncle,Timothy Moore, was the founder of Little Cedric and
the Haley Singers (Jo-Jo and K-Ci Haley), as well as, the lead singer of Timothy Moore and the
Heavenly Bound. Tony’s mother, Shirley Ann Moore, chose singing R&B as well, as did her brothers
Kevin, Tony, James, and her sister Faith. Her brother Rorey Mobuary sang R&B too; he also was the
lead singer of the gospel group the Maryland All-Stars. It was inevitable that music would play a large
part in the life of Tony Kurtis. As a result of being called Tony throughout his childhood and into
adolescence, upon entering the music scene he decided to change his name to Tony Kurtis. He
removed his last name and adopted his middle name, changing the “c” to a “k” so as not to be
confused with the actor, thus creating his own identity and stepping out of the shadows of his father
and uncles. Tony has been inspired by musical artists, such as, R. Kelly, Prince, Dru Hill, and Jodeci.
His diligence comes from his fervent desire to find his place alongside these musical wonders. Many
esteemed musical personalities have had profound things to say about Tony Kurtis. Jeff Robinson and
Ernest Manigo professed that “Tony Kurtis is one of the greatest writers ever”. KD of Prophet Jones
expressed that musically “Tony Kurtis is extremely articulate”. Jazz of Dru Hill declared, “Tony Kurtis
is an inspiration to the music world and one of the industries best-kept secrets”. Oprah Winfrey to a
young Tony Kurtis prophesied, “You are going to be something great one day”.
